Kioti CX2510 HC First Look

Kioti is introducing a new factory cab option for the CX2510. We recently got a chance to spend some time with it, using a disk harrow, tiller, and grapple.

Take a few minutes to watch this video, where we put the CX2510HC to work, pulling a disk harrow. We show many of the important features, and share some of our opinions.

CX2510HC & Disk Harrow

The CX Series

The CX is relatively new, having been introduced in early 2020. The CX2510 is larger than a subcompact (CS Series), but smaller than the CK series. Currently only one HP size (25hp) is offered in this frame size. However, it is offered with either a gear drive or hydrostatic transmission. With the addition of the factory cab option, this makes 4 distinct models available.

Competitive Models

The CX series most closely matches up the B2601 Kubota and Deere 2025R in size and capabilities. However, the new factory cab with A/C option sets it apart in dramatic fashion.

Popular Category

Each manufacturer seems to be focusing on the 25hp larger frame tractor right now. Given the EPA Tier IV regulations, customers are demanding this compromise of performance, simplicity, and cost.

While we have seen these machines growing in popularity, we are concerned that they might not have enough ‘umph’ to get the job done. Our concerns are magnified further with the addition of a fully air conditioned cab! So, we were thankful to Kioti for providing us an opportunity to check it out for ourselves.

The Cab

The factory cab is the crown jewel of this new machine, so we will start our review there.

Essentially all glass, the cab provides great visibility. There is even a small window pointed ‘downward’ behind the operators seat which allows visibility of the drawbar and 3 point hitch.

There are two doors on the cab. Both are huge. However, the intent is for the operator to use the left hand door for normal entry and exit with the right hand door reserved for emergency egress.

Entry is surprisingly easy through the large door, with the provided step making it even easier.

Tilting the steering wheel up makes it easier to get in and out, so we were happy to see this feature.

The seat suspension is luxurious for this size machine. It is fully adjustable, allowing operators of different weights to find a suitably comfortable ride.

Speaking of comfort, how did we did get this far into the cab discussion without mentioning the Air Conditioning System? Wow! To my knowledge, this is the smallest tractor that I know of which offers factory A/C. Curtis offers an aftermarket electric powered A/C system for the Kubota BX, and Kubota offers A/C on the LX2610, but I know of no other manufacturers offering A/C on a machine this small.

It was roughly 70 degrees with bright sun the day we used the machine. With so much glass, the A/C was definitely needed, and performed quite well. Unfortunately, we did not get to try it in mid-summer heat, but I suspect it will adequately cool even in such conditions. Lots of vents placed conveniently within reach, and yet distributed to cool the entire cabin.

Enough Power for the A/C?

As mentioned earlier, we have had reservations about A/C on such small machine. Will it have enough HP to run the A/C while pulling the engine hard with another attachment? The disk harrow was perfect for this test. We could easily stress the tractor while going up the slight grade. However, we couldn’t tell a noticeable difference in power when A/C on or off. Of course, this is somewhat subjective, but if there was any reduction in usable power to the ground, it was not dramatic.

Hydraulics & 3 Point Hitch

There is a 3 point hitch height control lever accessible from the rear of the machine. This handy feature helps with attachment connection/disconnection, and in my opinion, should be standard on all compact tractors!

Extendable 3 point lift arms are available as an option. If not using a quick hitch, this feature is tremendously helpful when attaching to stubborn 3 point hitch attachments.

One rear hydraulic valve comes standard on the machine. This would support a hydraulic angle blade, hydraulic scarifiers on a box blade, a dump wagon/trailer, or any other rear hydraulic attachment. Nice to have it standard on such a small machine.

Tire Options

The CX2510 offers 3 different tire options:

  • R1 – Ag tire tread
  • R4 – Industrial tread)
  • R14T – Hybrid tread. More traction than traditional turf tires, but less aggressive than R1 Ag tires.

Our Thoughts

The CX2510 HC should be on your short list if you want cab and A/C on a budget. It provides a comfortable cabin. Controls are handy, and they function smoothly. Lots of features and functionality for a low price!

If you can afford to spend a bit more money, consider stepping up to the CK series for a slightly quieter ride, fully independent PTO, and most importantly a few more horsepower (except for the CK2610). I’m certain that you would appreciate the step up to this larger horsepower class over the long run.

If shopping all of the competitive brands, you will have LOTS to choose from at this horsepower and frame size, but not many (if ANY) other choices with factory cab. For the nearest option with factory cab, take a look at the Kubota LX2610.

This machine gets the job done and does it in comfort, however, like other machines in this class, you may find times when you will be lacking in horsepower.
